Alter your manifestos to suit research findings – IMANI tells political parties

Head of Political and Economic Affairs at IMANI Ghana, Patrick Stephenson, said that IMANI Ghana has made it easier for the political parties to know what the electorates what them to do if they win power. He, therefore, urged them to alter their manifesto to suit their findings.

Head of Political and Economic Affairs at IMANI Ghana, Patrick Stephenson, told Accra-based Class FM that they have made it easier for the political parties to know what the electorates what them to do when they are voted into power. He said they must, therefore, incorporate them in their respective manifestos.

“Political party manifesto is not anything that is cast in stone. If the current conversations we’ve had between the two major parties is anything to go by, we hear one political party saying that the other had stolen their ideas so clearly there is room for some level of adjustment and some level of engagement from all the political parties’ point of view.”

“In any case, I don’t suspect that our political parties go through the rigour and thought we go through to arrive at some of these conclusions. So yes they may have to reconsider. …It’s only to get them to rethink,” he added.

A survey by policy think tank IMANI Ghana has revealed that over 50 percent of Ghanaians are disillusioned with government and want resources lost through mismanagement and dubious deals retrieved.

Out of 10,020 respondents who were interviewed in the survey across the country, Ashanti Region topped the list of respondents making the request with over 68% followed by Upper East Region with 64% and the Western Region with 60%.
