Addressing the press, the Communications Officer of UPP, Lawrence Asare, said, their flagbearer, Akwasi Addai Odike is an autocratic leader who decided to declare the party's support for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo without the consent of both the national and the regional executives.
Mr. Asare said the executives and members in Brong Ahafo have reached a consensus to throw their support behind the ruling NDC and President John Mahama to continue with the good work for the country.
The Brong Ahafo Chairman of the UPP, Atta Poku, explained further saying after noting the impressive performance of President Mahama these last four years, they have no qualms about declaring him the best since the advent of the Fourth Republic.
Mr. Adu said they believe Ghana will be better off if John Mahama is given a second chance to continue on the path of transforming Ghana into a paradise, hence their decision to endorse him.
The EC, however, attributed his disqualification to a suit at the Court brought by a faction of the UPP due to internal party wrangling.
He, however, earlier withdrawn his nomination from the presidential race. Odike said his decision to withdraw his nomination was a personal matter.
