According to the report, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will lose the elections as there is little time for the government to turn things around before November.

“There is little time for Mr Mahama and the NDC to turn the economy around before the November 2016 Presidential and Legislative elections. The Economist Intelligence Unit therefore expects Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP to be victorious,” portions of the report read.

But Deputy General Secretary for NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen, has said the party will not be complacent although it casts dark fortunes for the NDC.

“As far as the NPP is concerned, we are not enamoured by these predictions. We are focused, we are determined to wrestle power from the NDC. We are not going to bank our hope on the prediction,” he told Joy News.

The EIU report suggests that the results will be close. It has warned that the “outcome is not a foregone conclusion” adding, that the NPP maintain unity in the party. According to the report, Greater Accra is likely to determine who wins 2016.
