Philip Addison accuses EC of fraud

Philip Addison secured 22 votes and Adjei Tawiah obtained 19 votes

Failed New Patriotic Party parliamentary aspirant in the Klottey Korle constituency of the Greater Accra Region, PhilipAddison has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of conniving with some constituency executives to rob him of votes adding that the process was flawed because “people who voted were not qualified.”

Former constituency chairman of the NPP at Korle Klottey in the Greater Accra region Nii Noi Nortey was elected as parliamentary candidate for the party for the 2016 elections over the weekend.

He polled 393 votes beating his main contender Philip Addison who secured 22 votes and Adjei Tawiah who obtained 19.

But Addison told Accra based radio station Joy FM on Monday morning that, the EC was very much into a scheme to yield a particular result; to hand victory to Nortey.

The legal practitioner who said he was yet to take a decision on his next move told the radio station that a lot of people in the constituency were angry with what he described as a sham of an election.

Meanwhile, Philip Addison has launched an attack on the General Secretary of Party describing him of hijacking the party.

According to him, Mr. Agyepong is running the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition like his personal business.

Commenting on the elections, the renowned lawyer told Accra-based Kasapa FM Monday that he lost because the process that led to elections were skewed in favour of his opponent.

“I decided to boycott because the process was skewed towards one candidate and so there was no need. We made agreements on when the elections will be held but before I knew, the date had changed.

“And it’s all because the general secretary is running the party like his personal enterprise. He doesn’t consult anybody, he doesn’t listen to anybody, he just does what he wants and that is the problem,” he bemoaned.

He added that until the outstanding issues in the constituency are resolved, it will be difficult for the party to annex the seat in 2016.
