Per the local government law, she is required to get two thirds of the vote cast to be confirmed as the District Chief Executive of the Tolon District.
She was faced with stiff opposition from the Tolon Regent, Rtd Major Sulemana Abubakari and some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The election was supervised by the Minister of State in charge of National Security at the Presidency and Member of Parliament (MP) for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, Deputy Northern Regional Minister and MP for Bunkpurugu, Solomon Boar and MP for Tolon, Wahab Suhiyini Wumbei.
