Article 78 (1) of the Constitution provides that nominees by the President for ministerial appointments have to be approved by Parliament before they can act or hold themselves out as ministers or deputy ministers of state.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been criticized for appointing 110 ministers, with 50 of them being deputy ministers in his government.

Some Ghanaians have since argued that the ministerial appointments are too many and would be a waste of the tax payer’s money.
