George Boateng bought “draft” presidential forms – Asiedu Nketia

He made this known to a gathering at the party’s headquarters when vice president Kwesi Amissah-Arthur went to pick forms on behalf of the president.

General Secretary of NDC, Asiedu Nketia is the only one who has the mandate to issue the presidential forms to a presidential aspirant.

According to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), officials of the party sold a draft presidential nomination form to George Boateng, the man who intends contesting President John Mahama in the upcoming November primaries of the party.

He made this known to a gathering at the party’s headquarters when vice president, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur went to pick forms on behalf of the president.

“We have just got the final documents we were going to use for the presidential nominations… so it was practically impossible for anybody to purport to have picked forms from here. What I later came to see was that the staff of this head office managed to get one of the drafts which is in black and white and then sold it to somebody who claims to be a presidential candidate. The accountant has no means of doing the minimum checks about the background of the person who has requested for the forms. All I heard was that somebody was in the media holding this document and claiming that those forms were procured from my office, he said.

“Beyond satisfying our party’s constitution any candidate that we select has to satisfy the national constitution… any person who will be admitted to file as a presidential candidate must be of sound mind,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia added.

George Boateng, a 45-year old former Oyarifa Branch Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress has been in the news after he declared his intentions to contest President Mahama in the party’s November 7 primaries.

He insisted that he had acquired nomination forms from the party headquarters. However, according to the National Democratic Congress, it is only the party’s general secretary who has the mandate to issue the presidential forms to a presidential aspirant.

The General secretary has on a number of occasions denied publications with picture evidence that the NDC’s presidential candidate aspirant, George Boateng, had picked his nomination form at the party’s headquarters to challenge President Mahama.

The aspirant has since been engaged in verbal articulations with some members of the party, especially Mr Asiedu Nketia who described him as having a mental disorder.

Mr Boateng in a rebuttal alleged Mr. Asiedu Nketia was once a psychiatric patient saying, he was aware of the mental record of the NDC scribe because he was part of the people who conveyed him to a psychiatric hospital when he started behaving funny.
