Supporters of the various candidates earlier clashed at the headquarters over the timing of the poll.

Some NPP sympathisers believed to be supporters of aspirant Philip Addison, have taken to the streets and protested.

While supporters of the former constituency chairperson Nii Noi Nortey insisted the election can take place today as directed by the national executives, those of Philip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah say today is inappropriate. They want more time to enable their candidates prepare for the polls.

Prior to elections, An Accra Fast Track High Court has thrown out an application filed by six supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) seeking an injunction on the Korle Klottey constituency parliamentary primary of the party.

The plaintiffs, Juliana Briandt, George Attor Williams, Mary Crentsil, Ebenezer Acquah, Michael Nana Nkansa and Edward Quansah wanted a declaration that Nii Noi Nortey acted fraudulently when he declared and submitted to the NPP that he held a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Political Science degree awarded by the University of Ghana.

The six were also seeking the court to declare Nii Noi Nortey unfit to contest the parliamentary primaries because they claim he presented a fake certificate to the vetting committee of the party.

But the presiding judge, Justice Ofori Attah, however, dismissed the application on Thursday.
