Speaking to Pulse.com.gh, Mr Nketia said: “Number 3 is a very good number, lucky number for us because even before the ballot, we had composed songs using John 3:16. In the Bible, when you open John 3:16, the passage there is ‘For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.’ And you know our candidate is John, this year is 16, and we have chosen 3.”

He added that the third spot represents the third successive victory for the party.

“As a party, we are going to chalk our third successive victory in elections, and it is very clear,” he added.

The National Democratic Congress on Thursday, October 20, 2016 clinched the coveted third spot on the parliamentary ballot for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) picked the fifth position on the ballot paper with the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) capturing the first position.

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) got the second position. The Convention People’s Party (CPP), however, had no representative at the balloting.

The United Progressive Party (UFP), National Democratic Party (NDP) and the Independent People’s Party (IPP) got the fourth, sixth and seventh positions respectively.

The full balloting order is as follows:

1. GCPP2. PPP3. NDC4. UPP5. NPP6. NDP7. IPP

The EC had scheduled to do the balloting for the Presidential candidates – President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party, Ivor Greenstreet of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and an independent candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah – who met all the criteria set by the EC.

But it has been forced to suspend the process because of the legal suits brought against the Commission by the disqualified aspirants.
