General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has indicated that any presidential candidate who wish to contest as the presidential candidate on the ticket of the party must be of a sound mind.

“We have just got the final documents you were going to use for the presidential nominations… so it was practically impossible for anybody to purport to have picked forms from here,” Nketia said.
Mr Nketia made this known when the vice president Kwesi Amissah-Arthur went to pick forms on behalf of his President John Mahama.
“What I later came to see was that the staff of this head office managed to get one of the drafts which is in black and white and then sold it to somebody who claims to be a presidential candidate. The accountant has no means of doing the minimum checks about the background of the person who has picked the forms.

“Beyond satisfying our party’s constitution any candidate that we select has to satisfy the national constitution… any person who will be admitted to file as a presidential candidate must be of sound mind,” General Mosquito stressed in response to Boateng.
Meanwhile, Mr Nketia has revealed that officials of the party sold a draft presidential nomination form to George Boateng.
He, however, added that "This is the first time that anybody is picking the presidential forms since we open nominations. If anybody is going about that he hold our nominations, don't worry about it...nominations forms don't remain in the hands of the candidate, it eventually lands on the table of the general secretary."
Earlier, George Boateng has alleged that the MrNketia was once a psychiatric patient.
The 45-year old Oyarifa branch youth organizer of the NDC said in an interview that he was aware of the mental record of the NDC scribe because he was part of the people who conveyed him to a psychiatric hospital when he started behaving funny.

“One time we were with him when he started behaving in a funny manner, so we bundled him into my car and went to see one Dr. Asare who referred him to be put on psychiatric treatment…,” he said on.
He however failed to tell of the exact psychiatric hospital he took him to.
