I will do everything possible to win election 2016 – Mahama

He said while addressing some members of the NDC after presenting his nomination forms for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries of the party.

President John Dramani Mahama has vowed to do everything possible to ensure a one-touch victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general elections.

“I promise that I will continue the great heritage of our party and I will continue in the footsteps of my predecessors Jerry John Rawlings and Professor Atta Mills. And that I will do everything possible: materially, physically and spiritually to ensure that I lead this party again into a one touch victory in 2016”, he said while addressing some members of the NDC after presenting his nomination forms for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries of the party.

Mr Mahama filed his nominations after he had his forms endorsed by all the two hundred and seventy five (275) constituencies across the country.

The president remarked that the NDC has a great track record in government which is enough to guarantee them victory.

“Our party has a great track record in government and even despite the challenges and tribulations that we have faced in the last few years, our development record is impressive,” he said.

Mr Mahama however called on party members to unite as the party prepares for the elections.

“We have a battle ahead. And I’ll expect that all of us will in unity and togetherness, go into this battle and by the grace of God, we shall emerge victorious” he advised.

The National Democratic Congress has set its presidential and primaries for November 7.

President Mahama is expected to face competition from George Boateng, a former constituency executive of the party, who has revealed that he will pick new forms after party executives said the initial one he bought was a draft copy.

Meanwhile, the party will on Thursday close nominations to members interested in contesting the presidential and parliamentary primaries.
