National Vice Chair of the NDC, Anita Desoso who rendered the apology on behalf of the party, described the incident as unfortunate; one that should not be encouraged.

Some NDC supporters were seen carrying a coffin displaying posters of the Nana Addo during the party’s manifesto launch at the Brong Ahafo Regional capital Sunyani. The incident, viewed as a sign of mockery, was widely condemned by the general public.

Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah and Madam Otiko Efisah Djabah both of the NPP condemned the NDC for their actions. Otiko called on members of the NPP to pray for the Flagbearer of their party.

But Madam Desoso however distanced the party from the incident and prayed to God to forgive the perpetrators of the act.

She, however, in a swift counter attack, questioned the NPP’s intentions for an earlier act of chanting death songs during 2008 elections.

''I don't know why they carried the coffin. But it was not an idea by the NDC. Maybe some NPP persons may have initiated the idea to paint us black. However, I wish to condemn the act. It was bad and unfortunate.

"I pray to God to forgive all of us. This should not happen again. I will also pray that God grants Nana Addo long life and prosperity and any death planned for him should be cancelled,'' she said.
