Agyemang Badu to captain Ghana against Mozambique

The 25-year-old will be tasked with the responsibility of leading the team following the unavailability of Asamoah Gyan - who has been ruled out of the clash with a thigh problem.

With the absence of skipper Asamoah Gyan and deputy Andre Ayew, Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu is likely to wear the armband to lead Ghana in Thursday's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique.

With substantive captain Asamoah Gyan and deputy Andre Ayew ruled out of the friendly with injuries, Badu who has worn the armband in the absence of the duo during official matches is widely tipped to be appointed by Avram Grant to lead the squad.

Gyan picked up the injury during the team's last training session on Wednesday.
