Black Stars winning bonus slashed

The winning bonus of the senior nation team of Ghana has been cut down by the new sports minister, after thrashing Mozambique 3-1.

The Black Stars on Thursday defeated the Mambas of Mozambique 3-1 to jump to 10 points. The previous winning bonus of $10,000 was slashed after a consensus between the Minister of Youth and Sports and the playing body of the Black Stars.

Although, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has confirmed reducing the winning bonus after letting the players understand the current economic difficulties the country is going through, he failed to establish the actual amount.

"After three nights of negotiation by explaining to the Black Stars players the current economic challenges facing the nation they agreed to reduce the winning bonus for their win against Mozambique," the Sports Minister told Happy FM.

"But as I have already said, I don’t want to discuss the winning bonus of the Black Star in the public domain, so I won’t declare the actual amount.

"We also ensured their outstanding winning bonus against Comoros was settled. I thank the Minister of Finance, the Controller General and the Governor of Bank of Ghana for making the process to be completed within few hours."
