Ghana midfielder to train with West Ham U.23 side

The record Hammer signing has been missing for some time, having suffered a thigh injury in the opener at Chelsea.

West Ham have been handed some good news with the club confirming that Ghana international Andre Ayew is progressing well and should be back in action soon.

But progress is being made on the former Swansea forward, and striker Diafra Sakho is also edging nearer a comeback.

"Very soon, ahead of schedule, we are expecting Andre Ayew to be back," West Ham manager Slaven Bilic said.

"Andre returned to France as planned to continue his rehab. He will return to Rush Green at the weekend.

"He has been working very hard on the pitch and is ready for the next stage in the rehab, introducing the ball, passing, kicking and faster running.

"Andre will continue working on improving his fitness levels for the next few weeks before he will join controlled introduction sessions with the Under-23s."
