Black Stars coach tips Antonio Conte for Chelsea job

The former Juventus boss is currently in charge of the Italian national team and is preparing for this summer’s European championships.

Ghana coach Avram Grant says Antonio Conte is a “brilliant coach” after reports rife that Chelsea will appoint the Italian as their new manager in the summer.

Conte established himself as one of Europe’s top coaches after he led Juventus to three successive Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia.

According to reports in the British media, Conte has agreed a deal in principle to become Chelsea manager when his contract with Italy expires after Euro 2016.

“We need to wait to see if it is true. He is a good coach. He did brilliant for Juventus and Italy. He is a very nice guy,” Grant told Sky Sports.

Grant added: “Conte has a lot of experience but all the others [Diego Simeone and Massimiliano Allegri] that were mentioned have the experience.”

Chelsea sacked Jose Mourinho in December after run of nine Premier League defeats.

Guus Hiddink has only lost one game since taking over Mourinho after a 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last week.
