Avram Grant's probable line-up for the Mozambique game

PulseSports pick a probable starting line-up for the Black Stars' game against the Mambas of Mozambique

Avram Grant and his team started training on Monday with all players called-up available for Tuesday’s training session.

PulseSports pick a probable starting line-up for Avram Grant ahead of the fixture against Mozambique.

Goalkeeper: Adam Kwarasey

Razak Braimah did a great job in the absence of Adam Kwarasey who took some time off the Black Stars after happenings at the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

However with the goalkeepers called-up for the AFCON qualifier against Mozambique, Adam Kwarasey is Ghana’s best bet.

Right-back: Harrison Afful

The Ghanaian full-back has played all three games for his Columbus Crew side in the Major League Soccer since it started on March 6. His team has not won a game but match fitness is not a problem for the player and has done decently well for Ghana in recent performances.

Centre-back: John Boye

John Boye’s partnership with Jonathan Mensah has been a good one for Black Stars coach Avram Grant and he should keep that. He will.

Left-back: Abdul Baba Rahman

Forget his lack of playing time with English Premier League Champions Chelsea, Abdul Baba Rahman has kept the left of defence position in the Ghana team and this will be no different.

Jeffrey Schlupp might get some game time at some point in the game but Baba Rahman starts.

Right of midfield: Frank Acheampong

On the record of recent performances, Frank Acheampong who plays for Belgium side Anderlecht arguably beats all the other 22 called-up players for the AFCON qualifiers.

With Black Stars vice-captain ruled out of the game due to an injury, Acheampong should be rewarded with a place in the starting line-up.

Central midfield: Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu provides stability in the midfield when all the players are flying forward. A safety option to always fall back to in organizing the midfield and with his experience, Badu needs a place in the starting line-up.

Central midfield: Mubarak Wakaso

Murabak Wakaso whether playing well at club level or not has been sensational for the Black Stars of Ghana under Avram Grant.

The energy and drive he brings to the midfield is second to none in recent games. He recently returned from injury and has trained ahead of the game against Mozambique. Wakaso should start.

Left of midfield: Christian Atsu

Club football has not been so much as anticipated for the Ghanaian winger due to injury. The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations’ best player however gives something different when representing Ghana. He’s not at his peak always but most of the time and that warrants a start against the Mambas of Mozambique.

Striker Two: Jordan Ayew

Always triggers divided opinion among Ghanaian football fans. It is a really tough decision choosing Jordan over Abdul Majeed Waris who has been on a good scoring run for French Ligue 1 team FC Lorient.

Jordan is also doing well in games for an Aston Villa side who are destined for relegation with individual players playing selfishly for a prospective club next season. Jordan Ayew starts.

Update: Abdul Majeed Waris in for Asamoah Gyan

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan sustained an injury in the final training session ahead of the game against Mozambique.

An official told Pulse.com.gh the Shanghai SIPG striker will be out for five days and will miss the AFCON qualifies.

"We thought he could recover but he needs a lot more time to recover so we have decided not to risk him at this stage."

Majeed Waris who has been on a good run of form since his return from an exile at FC Lorient replaces the Black Stars captain.
