The coach of Ghana Premier League champions Wa All Stars, Enos Adepa, wants his team to prepare in the UAE before beginning their maiden campaign in the CAF Champions League
Wa All Stars coach Enos Adepa has called on the management of the club to schedule a training camp for the team in Dubai before their CAF Champions League campaign.
The reigning Ghanaian champions were on Wednesday handed a tough draw in the CAF Champions League - they will battle Libyan side Al Ahli Tripoli over two legs in the Preliminary Round, with the first leg scheduled for the weekend of 10-12 February.
According to Adepa, since the domestic top-flight is yet to kick start, it will be prudent for his team to camp in Dubai ahead of their duel against Al Ahli Tripoli.
“I want us to camp in Dubai because playing friendly matches there will give the players some needed exposure ahead of the game against Al Ahli Tripoli,” Adepa told Happy FM.
“I will be speaking to the management about it, but I believe 90% we will go to Dubai.”
On his take regarding his side’s draw against Al Ahli Tripoli, the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League coach of the year said:
“Alhly Tripoli are well organised. A Premier League club that has its own Stadium with an 80,000 capacity is not just a small club.
“We have had a long preparation because we knew that if we won the league we would be playing in Africa. So yes, we have prepared to cause havoc in the competition. We have decided to camp in Dubai, because if we don’t do that, the delay start of the Ghana Premier League will affect us. But I believe we will do well,” he added.
