Malik Akowuah confident of Medeama SC's qualification

Malik Akowuah thinks Medeama SC can score more against Al Ittihad to qualify to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup

The FA Cup champions lost 1-0 a week ago against their Libyan opponent in Tunisia in the first leg and must ensure at least a two goal margin victory or their luck on penalty shootouts if they only manage a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon.

But the holding midfielder, who was part of the club's maiden campaign in Africa in 2013, says they are capable of overturning the one goal deficit and even score more to qualify.

"It is not a big problem for us. This is not our first time in Africa, in our first participation I remember we conceded 1-0 away and came home to score 2-0.

I think the performance we put up in Tunisia was good. The players are fit and there is no injury so I hope by all means we will be able to score 3-0".

He also refutes the opinion that the current Medeama players lack the required experience in continental football to help the club achieve its group stage target. He reckons that performance is more important and his teammates are ready for the challenge.

"Before we started our African participation, people thought inexperience will beat us but the team played so well in Tunisia such that you would think the players have played in Africa before. We should have even scored but that is football but I hope we score at least 2-0 or 3-0" Akowuah intimated.
