Prince Yaw Owusu: Medeama defeated ‘African United’ side

The head coach of the Yellow and Mauves side has lauded the performance of his team in the 3-2 victory against the four times champions of Africa.

Akwasi Donsu, the midfielder who won the MVP of last season's FA Cup scored a wonderful late goal to grab the winner for Medeama in their 3-2 win over T.P. Mazembe on Sunday to move second in group A of the CAF Confederation Cup and will need at least a draw in Algeria against M.O Bejaia to reach the last four.

Yaw Owusu who was cautious entering into the game has hailed the fighting spirit of his side against the Congolese giants.

“It was hard work that gave us the victory. I told them the game was against a team that I call them an African United side due to their quality they possess, so we needed to put in our all,” he told the press in a post-match interview.

“We needed the win more than T.P Mazembe. We threw everything up front in search of the goal. T.P Mazembe were defending in the first half, but when they conceded the two goals they opened up the game in seeking the equaliser and they sat back again after they got the goals.

“However, we put them under pressure to get the late winner. I must congratulate my team for the good work done".
