Kenya stripped of CHAN 2018 hosting rights

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have announced that Kenya have been stripped of the hosting of the 2018 African Nations Championship.

The President of CAF Ahmad Ahmad made the announcement when briefing the media at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra on Saturday the 23rd of September, 2017.

Mr Ahmad did attribute the decision of withdrawing Kenya's bid to host the tournament to doubts in the atmosphere and sporting infrastructure in the country.

Mr Ahmad did go on to state that chances do other federations with the support of their respective government to bid will be opened on Sunday the 24th of September for other countries to bid for hosting rights.

An emergency committee meeting will be done to decide who will host CHAN 2018

The new host of the tournament will be known in the next 15 days.

Other decisions which were also made included that Ghana were going to continue to the host of the 2018 women's African Cup of Nations.

Cameroon are to also retain the hosting rights to the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
