Kwesi Appiah among Europe's most disloyal footballers

Appiah, at the age of 25, has represented 13 different clubs, embracing a string of loan spells.

Ghana international Kwesi Appiah is the third 'most disloyal' footballer in Europe this term, research by the CIES Football Observatory has shown.

The CIES Football Observatory data shows that no player in Europe has been at more clubs than Luca Toni, who has played for 15 different clubs.

Atalanta's Mauricio Pinilla has played for 14 clubs to date, followed by Crystal Palace's striker Kwesi Appiah.

Appiah, at the age of 25, has represented 13 different clubs, embracing a string of loan spells. He has been on the sidelines for eight months after suffering an injury while training with the Black Stars team.

According to the research, Barcelona stars Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets are among a dwindling number of players in Europe aged 27 or over to have played for only one club

The findings revealed that only 29 players in that age group in the top divisions in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain have stayed loyal to their first club.

In the Premier League, just two players -- Leicester midfielder Andy King and Everton defender Tony Hibbert -- remain at the clubs with which they began their professional careers.

The Premier League has the fewest one-club players in a dwindling number across the continent.

In Italy, where there are only three, Roma attacker Francesco Totti is the longest-serving at the age of 39, while in Germany Bayern Munich's Holger Badstuber and Schalke's Benedikt Howedes are two of four players to have stayed in one place.
