Ashford Tetey Oku named as new PLB boss

The GFA vice chairman has replaced Welbeck Abra-Appiah as the Premier League Board

The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association has named the astute sports administrator, Ashford Tettey Oku as the Premier League Board (PLB)

Abra-Appiah, following the end of the 2014-15 football season announced his intention to quit as the PLB boss, after 10 years in charge of the board.

Although the Executive Committee was silent on the chairman and the vice chairman of the Premier League Board when it announced changes in the standing and adhoc committees of the association, the GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi in an interview has revealed that the highest decision body of the FA has settled on Ashford Tettey Oku as Abra-Appiah’s successor.

“The Executive Committee has already appointed Ashford Tettey Oku as the new PLB chairman,” he told Happy FM.

Ashford was first appointed onto the Premier League Board in 2005, before he was named as the Vice Chairman of Abra-Appiah in 2011.

He has vast experience in football administration, having previous served as the administrative manager of Accra Hearts of Oak, a position he assumed in the early 1990’s and resigned in 2012.
