Ex-GPL top scorer tips Hearts Oak to win league

The midfielder for Dreams FC believes the Phobians have what it takes to win the upcoming league

Hearts of Oak have failed to win the topflight Ghana League, after emerging champions in the 2008-09 season and finished just a place of the relegation zone in the 2014-15 season.

However, Bernard Dong Bortey who was part of the Hearts of Oak team that won the CAF Confederations Cup in 2004 tips his former side to win the 2015-15 season’s league after experiencing trophy drought for six seasons

“I have not monitored the current Hearts of Oak coach, but I believe they have the sort of quality in their team to win the league. Playing for Hearts of Oak is about having confidence and character and I think the current playing body has them,” he told Asempa FM.

Dong Bortey will play for the newly promoted premier league side Dreams FC in the upcoming season.

The 2015-16 Ghana Premier League (GPL) is scheduled for 20 February, 2016. The Phobians will host New Edubiase United at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on match day one on Sunday 21 February.
