GFA congratulates Akuffo-Addo on election as president of Ghana

The Ghana Football Association has sent well wishes to the president elect of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo-Danquah Akuffo-Addo.

The 72-year-old flagbearer of the largest opposition party, New Patriotic Party (NPP)  beat off competition from the incumbent president John Dramani Mahama to win the 2016 presidential election of Ghana.

Akuffo-Addo polled 5, 716,026, as against 4, 713,277 by John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), representing 53.85% and 44.40% respectively.

Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People's Party came third, with a total of 105,682 votes, the Convention People's Party Ivor Greenstreet polled 25,395, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings of the NDP, 16,878, with Dr Edward Mahama and the Independent candidate Joseph Osei Yeboah also attained some votes.
