President Mahama to play in Peace Match

The President of the Republic of Ghana has expressed his desire to play in the Vodafone Unity Match on 11th June against the Black Stars

The Unity Match, which is organised to advocate for peace prior to the 2016 elections, will bring international footballers, both retired and active ones from different nations to play against Asante Kotoko and the Black Stars in June.

The enthusiasm for the game is very high, because, the President of Republic of Ghana, ex-presidents of Ghana, ministers, parliamentarians and diplomats have been invited, including football fans across the country to witness the game.

And the Sports Minister revealed to the Peace Ambassador of election 2016, Stephen Appiah, former Black Stars captain who will also take part of the games that John Dramani Mahama has expressed interest in featuring in the game.

“Before the President left for an assignment in Cote d’Ivoire, we met to talk about the Black Stars game against Mauritius and factored in the Vodafone Peace Match.“He was very happy with the initiative and told me he will play in the match even if for two minutes,” Nii Lante told the press when Stephen Appiah paid a courtesy call on him.
