Germany and Poland draw blank

The Germans were held to a goalless draw by the Poles in their 2 group C game of the Euro 2016 on Tuesday night.

Both now have four points and with one round of games remaining that could yet be enough to see them through as a third-place finisher at the very least dependent on what happens in the other groups.

The game failed to see plenty of opportunities. Although Germany controlled the game they couldn’t break the defence of Poland.

Poland striker Arkadiusz Milik wasted by far the best chance of the night seconds after restart, scuffing a header wide from four yards when he seemed certain to score.

It was one of few clear openings from a match that failed to produce a single shot on target in the opening half.

Germany duo Mario Gotze and Mesut Ozil were both denied by Lukasz Fabianski, in for the injured Wojciech Szczesny, after the restart while Polish forward Milik scuffed another good opening on what was a largely frustrating night at the Stade de France
