Disrespectful AshGold smeared disgrace on their faces

There was drama at the Ohene Djan Sports, Accra on Sunday when Ashgold were defeated by a goal to nil in the FA Super Cup

In fact, if football gods were fair, AshGold players should have walked to the dressing room with the club's name well spelt as demolition chain on their necks. They did nothing to deserve conceding only one goal.

From the blast of the referee's whistle, Medeama SC were the better side and deservedly won the match though I must admit the goal the referee allowed an offside goal to stand. If football was science even Albert Einstein or Isaac Newton would have found difficult to explain, but you need not to be a rocket scientist to know that you hardly win games when you play as a second fiddle.

Bashir Hayford and his boys went to sleep and never woke up but chose to pour their failure on not only the referees for the day but to the organizers of the FA Super Cup.

I am not saying you should jump high in defeat neither am I saying you should not show your displeasure for a defeat you feel is 'unfair,' but you shouldn't exhibit disrespectful behaviour. The team played as if boys assembled to play small post at Korle Gono and deservedly lost and Bashir Hayford should accept they were far from a team ready to stay afloat and bamboozle every opponent like they did en route to lifting the premier league title last year.

It is suffocating to show such a gross disrespect to football for a wine it took Medeama SC so long to serve.

What happened at the Accra sports stadium was the highest level of disrespect for the Ghana Football Association, Ghana football, the fans, media and more importantly, football in general. Selling the spirit of sportsmanship for arrogance is plain criminal, and no attempt should ever be made to explain it.

AshGold is bigger than the disgraceful attitude the team displayed at the Accra sports stadium and they should bow their heads in shame for being a sore loser.
