You already know Andre Ayew is a fine football talent and has joined English Premier League club West Ham United from Swansea City but here are five things you probably didn't know about the Black Stars vice-captain.

Here are five things you probably didn’t know about West Ham United’s new transfer signing:

Andre Ayew was born in Seclin, France

Black Stars vice-captain and West Ham United player Andre Ayew was not born in Ghana. The player was born in Seclin, France on December 17, 1989 where his parents based.

The 26-year-old has two brothers Ibrahim Ayew and Jordan Ayew who are professional footballers.

For the Ayews, football is a family business.

Andre Ayew played for FC Nania as a kid in Ghana. The team was run by his father and African football legend Abedi Pele.

The 26-year-old was signed by French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille in 2005 where he made his professional debut two years later.

Captain of the Black Satellites team that won the FIFA U20 World Cup

Tagged as the future captain of the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, Andre Ayew started making his named in international football at a young age.

Andre captained Ghana’s U20 team at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup and helped the nation win it.

His inspiration in the final game against Brazil showed the colours of a true leader.

Andre Ayew holds the record transfer fee for West Ham United

Andre Ayew completed his transfer move from English Premier League club Swansea City to West Ham United on Monday, August 8, 2016.

The London club paid £20.5 million for the Ghanaian player as he became West Ham United’s most expensive player ever.

A great first season performance at Swansea City after joining from Olympic Marseille at the start of the 2015/2016 season earned him the recognition and West Ham’s record holder.

Ayew has never won the African Player of the Year award

Andre Ayew has made the final three of the African Player of the Year award but has never won it.

The West Ham United player was nominated in 2011 where he lost to one of Africa’s great footballers Samuel Eto’o.

The Ghanaian player after a superb performance in 2015 made the final three alongside Yaya Toure and Pierre Emerick Aubamenyang.

Gabon international Pierre Emerick Aubameyang beat the Black Stars play to the award.
