7 interesting things about the Black Starlets that are not about football

We delve into some interesting facts you may or may not know considering the gallant Black Starlets team.

1. Ibrahim Danlad is the funniest player in camp.

The Black Starlets goalkeeper is Ibrahim Danlad and the dynamic shot stopper does not only display dynamism in goalkeeping. In an interview with Kwese TV, Ibrahim Danlad proclaimed himself the jester of the side as he actually takes time to learn funny gestures and dance steps to entertain his teammates in the camp.

You probably might not take his word for it but that was confirmed by the captain of the Black Starlets Eric Ayiah as well in that same interview

2. Ibrahim is the third youngest player in the 2017 World Cup.

The goalkeeper is the youngest player in the Ghana Black Starlets set up and his youthfulness transcends into the world stage. Ibrahim Danlad at the same time is the 3rd youngest player going into the 2017 U-17 World Cup in India with 14 years and 314 days.

Danlad Ibrahim falls behind Guinea duo Issiaga Camara and Ibrahim Sylla in the list of youngest players going into the U-17 World Cup tournamnent which starts on Friday, October 6, 2017.

3. Danlad is nicknamed La Gata after a popular Mexican soap opera.

The amusing fellow has an interesting nickname and has nothing to do with his goalkeeping prowess. The young chap has been nicknamed “La Gata”. The Mexican soap made waves when it was being aired on local TV screens.

4. Danlad's sister gave him the nickname.

In an interview with Kwese TV, Ibrahim Danlad gave the story to that nickname. The sister of Ibrahim Danlad gave him the nickname based on another nickname. According to Danlad Ibrahim, he was initially known as “Charchas” and a character in “La Gata” had a similar name and that was where his sister bestowed the name La Gata on him

5. Erick Ayiah was born on Ghana’s Independence Day.

The skipper of the side Eric Ayiah is 17 years and was born on the 6th of March, 2000. The striker also wears the number 6 jersey which everyone will seem to be a weird jersey number for his position. His birth date is what influenced his choice for the jersey

6. Eric Ayiah is the most stern and serious character amongst the Black starlets.

Erick Ayiah describes himself as the most serious character in the Black Starlets. Ayiah did say when he is on the field he plays his role as footballer and outside the field he is a business boy.

7. The team does not only train hard but they are also very religious.

The Black Starlets are one religious side and make sure they give reverence to a super natural being which powers them through their endeavors. Emmanuel Toku an influential playmaker in the Black Starlets did give the secret of his side’s progress this year to hard work and prayers.
