Niger upset Burkina Faso in WAFU

The underdogs handed Burkina Faso a 2-1 defeat on Sunday to progress to the group stage of the 2017 WAFU Cup

The Nigeriens went ahead twice in the game to stun their more fancied side, Burkina Faso.

Soumana Boubacar started the scoring for Niger in the 33rd with a beautiful finish but Dah Sansan restored parity for Burkina Faso when he slotted home a through ball in the 59 minute.

Sansan's goal lasted for 12 minutes as Garba Idrissa restored the lead which also ended up being the winning goal for the Nigeriens.
