Mohammed Polo talks about 1977 historic comeback dubbed “Miracle of EL Wak”

It was on the 6th November 1977 when Accra Hearts of Oak had returned home to play Zambian side Mighty Mufulira Wanderers with a 5-2 deficit on aggregate.
This was the semifinals of the African Club Championship.
Hearts of Oak managed to find the all-important 3 goals to qualify to the finals of the continental competition.

“It was an amazing day and nobody expected it. Unfortunately for the Zambians I did not play in the 1st leg. This means they did not know who the “dribbling magician” was. When they came I put on the rainbow jersey and got onto the field.
“Anytime I wear the rainbow jersey it’s as if I am hypnotized to do something.
“I was definitely able to conjure with my colleagues the fearsome five in order to carry the day."
Mohammed Polo alongside Mama Acqua, Anas Seidu, Peter Lamptey and Robert Hammond made up “the fearsome five” in Accra Hearts of Oak in the 70’s
