Sports betting company launches ‘talent search’ project

To participate in the programme, interested players will have to pick forms at various radio stations across the country for free.

Sports betting company, Betway Ghana on Tuesday launched a talent hunt initiative aimed at discovering the next generation of football stars in the country.

The programme which has been dubbed the ‘Betway Talent Search’ will see young players between the ages of 18 and 25 have the chance to impress a team of coaches, after which the ultimate winner will be picked.

Former Blacks Stars captain, Stephen Appiah is the ambassador for the project.

The launch was graced by deputy Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, assistant coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu, and other top football officials in Ghana football.

Marketing Manager of Betway Ghana, Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah, noted that the player who emerges as winner after the whole process would earn a trial contract with a Ghana Premier League club or even a foreign club.

He added: “We intend to get talents for the national team by creating the platform for them to showcase their skills.”

Head of the talent search team, Stephen Appiah urged the prospective participants to show commitment, while also encouraging them to keep fighting until their dreams are achieved.

The event will take place in July, with the talent hunt team scouting across Accra, Kumasi, Koforidua and Tarkoradi.
