Ghana female senior national team coach Mercy Tagoe was speaking to the media ahead of the WAFU semi-final clash against their West African counterparts.
“When Nigeria meets Ghana, it’s like Hearts and Kotoko. It does not matter the form that you have. It is the ground that will tell the story. So lets wait and see”
Portia Boakye was appointed captain just before the tournament as the substantive captain Elizabeth Addo was permitted to fly to the US to complete her transfer to Seattle Reign.
Mercy Tagoe also spoke on her performance so far in the tournament.
“At the beginning, she was afraid and looked jittery. I spoke to her for a while and she realized that others are doing better so she had to step up”.
“She improves match after match and I will rate her 8.5”
