Ghana has failed to land a major trophy since 1982, with the nation finishing as runners up of the Africa Cup of Nations twice since then.

Qualification to the World Cup also looks a tall order, as the Black Stars trail Egypt by five points in group E.

The country’s latest failure came when the Black Stars finished fourth at the 2017 tournament in Gabon.

And Polo believes the struggles of the national team are down to spiritual matters.

“I have said it before, that there is some sort of a spiritual connotation to the Black Stars challenges,” Polo said in an interview with Class FM.

“As you remember our infamous World Cup fiasco in Brazil – the money issues and the disciplinary challenges that faced the team – is not normal though it is becoming the norm of the day.”

Ghana has won the Africa Cup of Nations four times, but has failed to lay hands on the coveted trophy since 1982.
