No player would dare approach me with bribe – Kwesi Appiah

Kwesi Appiah has quashed reports that his squad selection is influenced by bribes from players.

According to him, he is “already rich” and does not need money from any player whatsoever.

Rumours from certain quarters claim that most coaches of Ghana’s national teams usually take bribes from players before inviting them for international assignments.

However, responding to such allegations, Appiah said he has never been involved in such a thing, adding that none of his players would even dare approach him with an inducement offer.

“Youcan’t eventryitbecause I’m rich in myownway. When they say somebody is rich, it does not mean you have money to look after the whole Ghana but you’re called a rich man because you have your peace of mind. You can have whatever you want at any given time without nobody’s help, that’s how you are considered rich,” Appiah is quoted as saying by Todaygh.

He added he will not hesitate to sack any of his assistants who allows himself to be influenced by inducements from players.

According to him, he only considers players must earn national team call-ups on merit and not through paying their way into the squad.

“People may have the thinking that they can go and talk to my assistants in regards to giving their clients call ups, but I always tell my assistants that if any of them allow himself to be induced by any agent and I hear about it, I’ll have no option than to sack you that very day because if you allow yourself to be used by players agents before handing him a call up, what control would you have over the player?”
