Asamoah Gyan to receive doctorate degree on Saturday

The Black Stars skipper is set to he honoured for his contribution to football

The 31-year-old is the all-time top scorer of Ghana with 51 goals in international football and has contributed immensely to the development of the game, having built an astro turf for his alma mater, Accra Academy School.

Responding to the great honour, Gyan said “…certainly it will urge me on to do more, when I came around to see the astro turf, I felt happy and the recognition tells me whatever one does, if executed well, there comes a day of reckoning, I thank the higher learning institution for the honour.”

Other recipients of the prestigious Award are President Akufo-Addo, Dr Osei Kwame Despite, Dr Lawrence Tetteh, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor, among others.

Asamoah Gyan has played in three different FIFA World Cup tournaments and is the greatest African scorer in the mundial with six (6) goals

He has had stints with Liberty Professionals in Ghana, Modena and Udinese in Italy, Rennes in France, Sunderland in England, Al Ain and Al Ahly, both in the United Arab Emirates, Shanghai SIPG in China and recently joined Turkish side Kayserispor.
