Dutch striker retires from football

The 36-year-old has hung his boots after winning the Dutch Eredivise with Feyenoord

The 36-year-old scored a hat trick on the final day of the Eredivise to help Feyenoord to their first Eredivise title in 18 years.

Kuyt scored striker scored 15 times in 38 games across all competitions in his final season to crown 19 years of senior level football.

Starting out at Utrecht as an 18 year-old, he went on to play at Feyenoord (twice), Liverpool and Fenerbahçe, scoring 295 times in 798 official games.

Individually, he was Dutch footballer of the year twice and was top scorer in the 2004/05 season with 29 goals.

Kuyt won two league titles and and five domestic cup trophies across the Netherlands, England and Turkey.

He won 104 caps for the Dutch national team, scoring 24 goals. He was part of the Oranje team that won silver at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and bronze at the next edition in Brazil.
