Ghanaian international Michael Essien has congratulated midfielder N’golo Kante for being crowned PFA player of the year.
The 34-year-old has been impressed with the Chelsea midfielder, and hailed his achievements so far this season.
Kante rose to prominence after playing a crucial role in Leicester City’s unlikely title triumph last season.
The French international was subsequently signed by Chelsea for £30 million during the summer. And after impressing with the Blues this season, Kante was announced PFA player of the year having beaten competition from Eden Hazard, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane.
Michael Essien – who was once on the books of Chelsea between 2005 and 2015 – earlier tipped Kante to win the coveted award, and has now congratulated the midfielder for his feat.
The Persib Bandung anchorman tweeted: “My prediction came to pass, congratulations my friend N’golo Kantefor winning the PFA Player Of The Year.”
Essien enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League.
