Every year, when the latest edition of the FIFA video game franchise is released, fans wait on in anticipation to learn which legends will be included in the new edition. This year, EA Sports have already revealed the first five legends, with Ronaldo, Diego Maradona, Pele, Thierry Henry and Lev Yashin are the first five icons revealed.

In recent years, the likes of Abedi Pele, George Weah, Jay-Jay Okocha and other famous African players have been included in the game, but which other Ghanaian stars should feature? In this gallery, we present a quintet of the continent’s stars we’d love on the latest edition.

Stephen Appiah

Stephen Appiah has recently taken his first steps in the coaching world after being named as one of Kwesi Appiah’s assistants, and it’s high time he also makes his debut as a FIFA legend. The midfield general featured for the likes of Juventus and Fenerbahce, and also captained the Black Stars on their World Cup debut in 2006. A veteran of the run to the quarter-finals in 2010, he offered that magnificent collusion of forceful leadership and technical majesty.

Samuel Osei Kuffour

Sammy Kuffour, in his prime, a sensational player, capable of protecting his lines and bullying strikers. He is one of Africa’s finest central defenders, and was also a superb leader in defence.

It would be fascinating to watch Kuffour in tandem with some of the other legends who are likely to be on the latest edition, while an online link-up with former Super Eagles teammate Okocha would definitely appeal to Ghanaian gamers!

Tony Yeboah

'Yegoala' was one of the most prolific strikers ever produced by Ghana, a nation which prides itself on a long heritage of producing talents capable of the fabled beautiful football. He was a star man forLeeds United, before moving to Germany where he represented Hamburger SV.  Until 2017 which Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won the Bundesliga top scorer twice ,Tony was the only African to have won that accolade of scoring the highest number of goals in the Bundesliga.
