You pay too much attention to the Black Stars - Kwesi Nyantakyi

GFA President accuses media and soccer fans of focusing too much on the Black Stars.

In speaking to Joy News, the President of the Ghana Football Association begged to differ on the issue and rather felt that it was the media who have given premium attention to the Ghana Black Stars to the neglect of all other national teams.

Nyantakyi started by saying:

"That is a criticism I have heard so many times but it is unfounded. It is rather the media that has paid so much attention to the Black Stars. It is rather the soccer fan that has paid so much attention to the Black Stars,”

“There are 8 national teams and I have been following all of them. I have been to Prampram to watch matches the women teams and regrettably, you won't find any media person there. They play at the Accra Sports stadium and the spectating is sparsely populated.”

"The Black Stars go for ordinary training and all the women are there with their recording devices with spectators all over there.

"The supporters groups are chanting with some of them carrying banners of different players with fan groups.

"The same people turn around and say it is the GFA not focusing on the Black Stars”.

However, Nyantakyi did say the aggregate attention on the Black Stars is not surprising and gave reasons for that.

"It is not surprising because every nation has one national team and that is what FIFA uses to rank your country as one doing well or not. If everyone pays attention to that it is understandable”.

"The FA spend 25% of attention to the Black Stars and the rest of the time on other products”
