The Rainbow club ended Kotoko’s eight-year dominance at the Accra Sports Stadium, thanks to a late Vincent Atinga penalty.

Although the penalty call by referee Samuel Sukah generated controversy, Hearts of Oak held on to run out as winners over their eternal rivals.

And the victory appears to have capped the perfect day for most Hearts fans – including former Foreign Affairs minister, Hanna Tetteh.

Hearts’ victory over Kotoko has moved them to 6th on the league log, and the club is now just five points adrift of top spot.
