The left back picked up a knee injury in Ghana’s opening game in the 2017 African Cup of Nations against Uganda and has not been active in competitive football ever since.

The future of Baba Rahman was uncertain after he spent last season on loan with German outfit Schalke.

With Schalke having lost Sead Kolasinac to Arsenal on a free transfer, the Gelsenkirchen based side did show interest to sign Rahman permanently.

Turkish Giants were also looking to as well lock down left back Baba Rahman but the decision has been made to get Baba Rahman to stay in London.

He will be tasked to play with the Chelsea u-23 team on his road to recovery and that could see him play as backup to Marcos Alonso in the Chelsea setup.

Chelsea have so far failed to capture any full backs this window as the club failed to have transfers materialize with targets Alex Sandro and Danilo.

Alex Sandro will seem to stay with club Juventus as the latter completed a move to Manchester City from Real Madrid.
