Jordan Ayew makes second half appearance in Aston Villa win

Jordan Ayew played the second half of Aston Villa's League Cup win over Birmingham City

Jordan Ayew made a second half appearance for Aston Villa in their Capital One Cup game against Birmingham City.

The Ghanaian was named on the bench once again for his Villa side after failing to make an appearance from the dugout against West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League last Saturday.

Manager Tim Sherwood however gave Jordan a second half opportunity in the game against Birmingham throwing him right on after the interval.

The link up play between Rudy Gestede and Jordan Ayew gave Aston Villa a sharper edge in front of goal in the second half.

Rudy Gestede made use of the threat upfront scoring the only goal of the game for Aston Villa in the 63 minute.

The 1-0 win for Villa qualifies them to the next round of the English League Cup.
