Pochettino: Spurs to confirm more new deals

Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen have signed new Tottenham deals recently and the club are not done yet, says Mauricio Pochettino.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed Tottenham will tie at least one more player down to a new deal, following in the footsteps of Christian Eriksen and Eric Dier.

Last week, Eriksen agreed to terms on a four-year deal while Tuesday saw Dier commit his future to the club with a fresh five-year contract.

And Pochettino says there is more to come as he looks to keep hold of his key players, with right-back Kyle Walker reported to be close to improving his deal.

"I can promise in the next few days that maybe another player will appear in the same way, the same news that happened with Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen," the head coach revealed in his media conference ahead of Spurs' Champions League clash with Monaco.

"It's always important to keep your best players and I think it's fantastic news for the club.

"It's very important for the club not only for me. It's true that we show our commitment with the club when we sign five-year deals and I think for the players it's important to show their commitment with the club. It's very important for the future."

Pochettino then turned his attentions to Wednesday's Group E opener against Monaco, which will be played at Wembley as White Hart Lane undergoes changes ahead of Tottenham's move to their new stadium in 2017-18.

"I think it [playing at Wembley] will be a fantastic moment for us to share with almost 90,000 Tottenham fans," he said.

"It will be a historic moment for us. We need to go to Wembley to play, to behave naturally and to try to win games and not try to find excuses.

"It will be an exciting moment to play with Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League. It's difficult to describe the feeling today when we were training with the UEFA Champions League ball, with the bibs."

"You have more space to play in [at Wembley]. It's difficult for the opponents to press you when you have more space and more metres to run."

Pochettino also responded to questions on Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, who has been ravaged by injuries in the past couple of years, and his own forward Harry Kane, who netted his first Spurs goal since early May during Saturday's 4-0 win at Stoke City.

"He [Falcao] is a top player," said Pochettino. "Maybe he's lacked a bit of luck in the last few years with injuries. But when you are a top player and a top man like he is, you don't need to show anything.

"It will be a very good challenge for him [Kane] to show he can compete in different competitions.

"It's important for him and for the team that he scores again. It was very important for him to score on Saturday, and I think for him it was a good moment."
