GPL team for match day 25

These are the players who distinguished themselves on match day 25 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL)

Theophilus Jackson

The WAFA goalie put up a standout performance when they lost 0-1 against Tema Youth. He made several saves to deny the host from scoring more than one goal. Theophilus Jackson was even tipped for the Man of the Match award, but he missed out on it to Jacob Laweh.

The Bolga All Stars left back excelled when his side scared the Porcupine Warriors in Kumasi over the weekend in a 2-1 defeat. On match day 25 formation, he will be operating from the right full back in a make-shift position due to Jacob Laweh who equally distinguished himself in the left full back position. He made a lot of runs along the left side and combined it with incisive crosses, dribbles and even got the consolation goal for the Bolga lads.

Jacob Laweh

The ever-impressive skipper of Tema Youth was at his usual best with successful dribbles, runs and crosses to boast the attacking force of Tema Youth. Jacob Laweh was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the game as the Tema based outfit defeated WAFA 1-0.

The Hearts of Oak centre-back was solid at the back. He combined very well Vincent Atingah to coil the attack of Gt Olympics. He intercepted a lot of balls and was quick to recover whenever he surged forward to support the attack.

Zakaria Fuseini

The Berekum Chelsea central defender cleared his lines very well and stopped most of the dangerous attack from Elmina Sharks as Berekum outfit edged the visitors.

Moro Salifu

The defensive midfielder played his role very well in the holding role position. He retained possession and also had a good rate of distributing the ball. Moro Salifu scored the only goal in Bechem United’s victory over AshGold and subsequently won the Man of the Match award.

Elvis Opoku

He marshalled the midfield, winning the 50-50 balls and supplied them to the target men upfront. He impressed all the spectators who trooped to the Stadium to see his side Aduana Stars earn a 1-0 win over Inter Allies.

Kwame Boahene

The former Medeama midfielder after a torrid season, finally showed glimpses of what motivated Asante Kotoko to secure his signature. He made several incursions and even assisted one of two goals scored by the Porcupine Warriors in their 2-1 win against Bolga All Stars.

The Wa All Stars midfielder was a thorn in the flesh of Medeama when they walloped the Tarkwa based outfit 3-0 at Wa. He used his speed effective and also electrified the stadium with a world class strike to give the champions of the Ghana Premier League an emphatic victory. He was named the Man of the Match.

David Abagna

The attacking midfielder was pushed further upfront against Medeama and used as a number 10. He played his role well and gave the visitors much troubles as Wa All Stars won 3-0. He created a penalty and stepped forward to slot it home perfectly and gave an assist as well.

Patrick Razak

He was the difference between Hearts of Oak and Gt Olympics when the former won 2-1 in the Accra derby. Patrick Razak scored and gave an assist to help the Phobians fight from a goal down to win 2-1 and was subsequently handed the Most Valuable Player of the game. In this formation he will be used as a false number 9.
