Nabil Fekir wants his red card overturned after the Lyon forward was dismissed during a 2-0 defeat to Nice in Ligue 1 on Friday.

Fekir received his marching orders for a foul on Paul Baysse in the 28th minute at Allianz Riviera, but he does not feel the offence warranted a straight red.

Lyon were already a goal down to Nice when Fekir was dismissed, before going on to concede another goal in the second half to the league leaders, who now top the table by four points from champions PSG.

"It's true that I touched Baysse [but] it does not deserve the red," said Fekir.

"I really hope the red card will be overturned as I am not a nasty player.

"I do not often make fouls, and even receive yellow cards.

"That's what I told the referee when I went to see him at the end of the game."

Nice striker Mario Balotelli had the red card he received against Lorient rescinded, allowing him to play in the game against Lyon, but Fekir is doubtful he will receive the same treatment.

"The sanction was lifted for Balotelli, but I do not know if I have as much power as him," he said.
