Saddick Adams hattrick hands Kotoko title

The Porcupine Warriors have claimed their ninth FA cup title thanks to the three goals, all coming in the first half, by Sadick Adams.

Asante Kotoko have won the 2017 MTN FA Cup after beating rivals Hearts of Oak 3-1 at the Tamale Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Adams had been widely criticised by his own fans for his profligacy but on Sunday at the Tamale Stadium and against no other side than Hearts of Oak, he was very clinical.

Kotoko opened the scoring inside 3 minutes after striker Saddick Adams capitalized on a blunder from Vincent Atinga as the former Ghana U17 star made no mistake when he calmly slotted home from 6 yards.

A needless challenge on the path of Hearts defender Richard Akrofi on Saddick Adams in the 18-yard box saw referee Latif Adaari awarding a penalty to Kotoko on the half hour mark.

Saddick Adams stepped forward and placed the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah.

And with seconds to end the half, Adams delivered the third goal. He went round Hearts goalkeeper Ben Mensah and tap into an empty net.

Hearts came into the second half determined to stage a comeback but they could only find a consolation goal scored by skipper Thomas Abbey.

Kotoko are now just a trophy short off Hearts of Oak who are still the record holders of the FA Cup competition having won it 10 times.
