Andre Ayew lands in Abuja for Glo-CAF awards

CAF Player of the Year nominee Andre Ayew has arrived in Nigeria ahead of the award ceremony on Thursday night

Ghana international Andre Ayew has arrived in Abuja, Nigeria for the Glo-CAF awards scheduled for Thursday night.

The Black Stars vice-captain and Swansea City player has been nominated for the 2015 CAF Player of the Year Awards.

Andre Ayew battled Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast and Manchester City and Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang of Gabon for Africa’s top individual accolade.

For the year under review, son of Africa’s football legend Abedi Pelle played for French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille in the second half of the 2014/2015 season before transferring to English Premier League club Swansea City for the first half of the 2015/2016 season.

Andre Ayew played 13 games for Olympique Marseille in the year 2015, scoring seven goals for the French side.

The player made a blistering start to life in England and has so far scored six goals in 20 appearances for Welsh club Swansea City.

The assistant captain of the Ghana senior national team also featured for his county in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where the Black Stars were beaten on penalties in the final game of the tournament by eventual winners Ivory Coast.

Andre Ayew scored 3 goals in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
