Daniel Amartey's Leicester City coach Shakespeare sacked

Daniel Amartey’s Leicester coach Craig Shakespeare’s appointment has been terminated after just four months into office.

His sack was confirmed following their 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion at home Monday and have won just three times this term, with two of those victories coming in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking after the game last night, the 53-year-old said: “When you make changes, regardless of shape, what you’re looking for from your substitutes is to make an impact,” reflected

“I think both subs (Ben Chilwell and Islam Slimani) did that. Of course we changed shape and as I said earlier, you’re mindful that you don’t want to be too open. You want your players to attack in that shape but you don’t want to leave yourself too open.

“I’ve got to be pleased with the way they went about it when we’ve not really worked on it too much. As I’ve said before, you’ve got to be adaptable, whether you start with a different shape that they aren’t used to or you introduce it. I’m really pleased with the subs.

“We’ve probably had more possession tonight than we’ve had in most of our previous games. We spoke at half-time about moving the ball quicker and not letting them have that deep set-block because West Brom are very, very resilient and hard to break down

“When you go 1-0 down at home and you’re after that win, the strength of character of the players showed. We had the chances to win the game but it ultimately left us a bit open because of our endeavour to try to win the game.”
